I’m sure it’s no surprise that authors around the world are jumping ship from MailChimp, a newsletter provider, to others like MailerLite, ConstantContact, ConvertKit, MadMimi, and others.

Way back in the day, MailChimp was the provider and for good reason. They sucked you in with 2000 free subscribers. And for a bootstrapping author, free is a great price.

But lately, MailChimp has been increasing features, increasing their pricing and now, they charge you for each contact. A contact is defined as anyone who has ever signed up for your mailing list, even if they unsubscribed years ago.

For someone like me who sets up newsletters and tests regularly (ask Brighton Walsh :)) there could be a half dozen test contacts in that database over the years.

Why should you have to pay for that?

Anyway… for my personal author accounts I’d switched to a plugin for WordPress called Newsletter in late 2019/early 2020. I’ll do a feature on it in the future. It uses AWS (an amazon mail service) to send the mail.

But the level of polish wasn’t there. And after it ate a few paragraphs of my newsletter, I started looking at the options my friends were mentioning.

Namely, FloDesk.

FloDesk is new. It’s all inclusive. Meaning unlimited contacts. Unlimited emailing.

It’s aesthetic is simple and sleek but it has some great features. I’ll go over those next week.

But the best part is it’s only $38 a month. And if you were using MailChimp or something similar and saw the price creeping up each month, $38 feels like a gift.

How would you like to get a 50% discount? Use my link and your subscription to FloDesk is only $19 a month!

Up next week: features I love about FloDesk.
